Our Mission Objectives

"Let it rot" ethos, showing growing mushrooms

Maximise Ecological Diversity

We actively manage Aspect Nature Reserve to create optimal conditions for native flora and fauna to thrive. This includes practices such as avoiding the use of chemicals and adopting a ‘let it rot’ ethos to deadwood management.

Encourage Education and Engagement

A core mission of Aspect Nature Reserve is to offer a safe, supportive space for local community groups and for schools to enrich their educational experiences. We strive to share our learnings as widely as possible and inspire others to adopt similar practices wherever possible.

Roundels and Brash fences

Champion Bold Innovation

We are proudly innovative, embracing new approaches to advance research and enhance biodiversity. For example, in collaboration with the Woodland Trust, we recently launched a large-scale demonstration project to showcase a variety of Roundel (circular, cleared areas surrounding  trees) management techniques

Promote Multi-Generational Connections

Aspect Nature Reserve is designed to endure for generations to come. Its Management Plan envisions the site lasting for at least 300 years  - by which time our oak trees will be entering their middle age!
